Marvelous Mosell - Stopmotion

Billede
Some years ago, I created the artwork for Danish rapper Marvelous Mosell's 7" single Stopmotion. I really wanted to capture the essence of Mosell's universe. His lyrics are humorous, tongue-in-cheek and fun and the subjects evolve around, among other things, 80's nostalgia. The original video for Mosell's Stopmotion was made in.. well.. stopmotion, with action figures from alle the classic lines. It looked very gung-ho and primitive. It worked incredibly well on video, but as stills, it was a bit too primitive. I mean: You have to look at that cover over and over again. I do at least and there's nothing worse than looking at something you made and think "Darn, I could have done that so much better". So I decided to step it up a notch and make it look a bit more professional, but still within a DIY aesthetic. Also, I really wanted to make Mosell into an action figure we could place in this universe. So, with a bunch of cardboard, balsa wood, Sculpey ...

Lillefinger

Tegnado

Billede
Copenhagen Bombay basically gave me a bag of   money and asked me to do a show for kids, where I taught drawing and model building. The platform was YouTube, where I would upload a new video every week.   60 episodes in total. The aim was to teach kids basic techniques, while making it entertaining - the style was very colorful and crazy.  I also tried to implement a bit of humor,   that would perhaps appeal to parents, including fun and dynamic editing, references to 70/80’s   pop-culture etc. I wanted to make it a slow show, that took it’s time to communicate, as a contrast to most modern kids’ shows. I had a day to prepare an episode and a day to edit, so   needless to say I had to be efficient. As part of the Tegnado brand, I also hosted a series of workshops for kids in the age of 5 - 10 years old at both Århus and Aalborg public libraries, among others places. John Dillermand

Billede
This is a bit of a controversial one: John Dillermand. The show about John with a wiener with a mind of it's own, who get into all kinds of trouble. For this show, my main job was to design, develop and sculpt the main characters, build props and models and set-dress when shooting the backgrounds

Prince Ivandoe Pilot Episode

Billede
The series follows the adventures of Ivandoe , the young prince of the forest whose father, The Mighty Stag, sends him on a quest for the magical Golden Feather of the fearsome Eagle King.   Ivandoe and his dedicated squire, a small bird named Bert discover new and mysterious areas of the forest and an array of peculiar creatures along the way. I was given a week to create the backgrounds for the Prince Ivandoe Pilot, produced by Copenhagen Bombay. The production was super low-budget and the sets where made with plaster, sticks, moss and whatever I could find in the surrounding area of the studios. Lots of fun to do!

Sprinter Galore

Billede
Copenhagen Bombay needed a new character for a new show for kids, so I was given two days to come up with a design. They wanted a character that originates in space, but also looks like a super hero.   The result was originally designed for a   live-action show, and was later redesigned for a TV show and a video game

Den Magiske Juleæske/Get Santa

Billede
Introduction: Eight-year-old Julius lives at an orphanage, where he is a bit of an outsider.  Secretly, he still believes in Santa Claus.  When Julius is confronted with the fact that Santa Claus could be just the orphanage headmaster in a Santa suit, he begins to doubt not only Santa, but also himself. When Julius suddenly finds himself in a magical world, he has to restore his own faith, as well as that of others. On Get Santa, I worked with the production of props, characters and backgrounds - I sculpted most of the larger props, such as water pumps and wagons, but also smaller ones, like misc. kitchen items, tools in a toolshed etc.

The Mutant Bastards

Billede
The Mutant Bastards line is a line of action   figures, where my aim is to embody everything   I love about the classic toys of my   childhood - the bright colors, the playful designs,   the fun and the storytelling. This project is one of my pet projects.   I do almost everything myself,   save for the casting of the resin figures My dream was to produce the figures in vinyl or a more durable material,  but the production costs would sky-rocket, so I went with resin. It’s a fragile material, so unfortunately, it’s not suitable for play. But, it’s a rather popular material in the   art-toy scene, because it’s cheap and easy to work with

An introduction

My name is Rune Alexandersen, For as long as I can remember, I have worked with my hands. Drawing, painting, sculpting – you name it, I’ve done it. This has transcended into my professional life too, where I have been fortunate enough to work both as a freelance and full-time employee. In everything from film to TV and illustration. In my spare-time I have released vinyl records, produced resin action figures, designed posters and record sleeves for bands and events.   I have also ran workshops with children where I taught drawing both as a volunteer and on a   professional level. Most notably, I have worked on productions such as Prince Ivandoe, Lego minifigure ads, John Dillermand, Lillefinger and Sprinter galore. This is my blog and an introduction to who I am and what I do.
